Hi all
Can anyone advise me on where to get information from about doing intervention programmes for numeracy literacy at primary level. Or is anybody actually doing this that could offer me some advise, on how to implement this. Don't know where to start.
Many thanks. Crying or Very sad

Hi Sophie

I've done Springboard 4 and 5 for those years. Actually i used 5 with Y6's. A programme of 10 weeks consisting of a lead lesson and a follow on one. With optional homework given in between.

I've enjoyed taking these small groups. usually half a dozen children who are performing below the target levels set.

All the work is set out in a white folder though it takes some planning and prep each week - photocopying the work sheets and just getting my head around what i'm supposed to 'teaching' them.

Esp good for those childrn who lack confidence. working in a small group with a greater degree of support can work wonders. I've seen it happen!

oh and the programme comes with a video so you can see how its meant to be done...or at least gives you ideas. Always made me feel totally inadequate watching them!

Hi there, I also am doing intervention programmes. For Literacy you have ELS (early literacy support for infants, ALS (additional literacy support which could be Yr2,3 or even pos Yr4 if you dont start at the beginning, lastly am doing FLS (further literacy support Yr5) Just go to the DFES website and enter FLS etc you can download all the info.

Numeracy . I currently do Wave 3 (1 to 1 for children on IEPs), Have done most of Springboard 3, 4 and 5 over the last year. Quite enjoy these as I prefer numeracy to literacy. Again go to the DFES website and enter Springboard 3 etc. THe springboards are designed to ensure children are more confident with the basic stuff from each year so you deliver springboard 4 to year 4 and it enforces the things they should know from year 3 etc.

Hope this helps

Sophie, If you enter Springboard, Wave 3, (maths) ELS, ALS, FLS (Lit) (1 search for each program) into our Search (at the top of the page) you'll find all the threads to do with them. Over the last 18 Months we've had quite a few. Smile
