Hi, I work with a year 5 boy whose reading age is no more than 5. He has worked his way through the storyworld series of books, partly by memorising I think, but he needs to move on to something else which interests him. Does anyone know of a good reading scheme for boys, especially, that takes them beyond simple stories without jumping too far in terms of complexity of language. I persuaded our Senco to buy some 4U2read books by Barrington Stokes but most of them are a bit beyond his ability at the moment.

He might enjoy Fuzzbuzz. They seem to appeal to all children and there are matching work books too.You coincide writing in an exercise book too.So they learn by linking the three parts together. As they get going new characters appear and then they move onto the Glen with the Scottish Clan.
