my school has an after school computer club run by a TA. it proved so popular it was extended immediately to 2 nights a week. I think the children can pretty much do what they want, as it is an after school activity, with the TA guiding them as to how to use the computers functions to the best of their capability.

I run an animations club - we make animations which the kids upload onto their websites - we use Flash or Windows Movie Maker depending on the abilities involved.
We also have an after school club where kids and their parents (if they want) can use the computers to research or prepare homework - we can support and teach then to search effectively and lay out their work.
Be prepared - kids love the computers and there is usually a long line waiting for a space!

I run computer club 3 times a week for year 3(from Jan.), 4 and 5.

The ICT co-ordinator said, "they could do what they like(within reason.)"

I've set up a home page with links to loads of useful sites like games and CBBC.

The children love it. I take a group of 16 at a time. I do it as a volunteer so don't get paid but I do now get a free school lunch Very Happy

I ran a computer club for three years running[ one night after school] It was a school newspaper club where we produced a newspaper once a term. It was very popular as they sold the paper to make funds and the last year's newspapers were produced by a professional printer.

I started the club off with a visit from the local newspaper team who were great at offering support and advice about deadlines, taking interesting photographs etc....

I kept them to themes [three each year] so our first one was all about life in school present day and parent's and grandparents offering snippets and photographs of them in school uniform.

After three years I needed a break as so I introduced an ICT club where I supported a group with digital materials using pop casting, animations and photoshows.

I've kept quiet this year up till now but last week a group of Y6 girls approached me and said they wanted to create a newspaper but didn't know how to lay one out. This particular group are very interested in nature and have had their own 'save the whale' club going for a couple of years. Anyway I will meet with them next week and suggest an after school club where I will support them.

I have bought the newspaper for kid called 'First news' to show them and give them ideas so I will see what they want to do from there.
