38. Desire the Kingdom - Paula Simonds Zabka

If you like historical novels you'll love this one, I spotted this at our library on my last visit & spotted the mention of the Warwick family which made me want to read it as we will be making a return visit to Warwick castle in a couple of weeks, it was interesting to be able to look in the guide book we have to see what the castle was like at the time the novel was set Very Happy

A Story of the Last Plantagenets Was Richard III of Shakespeare fame an evil hunchback?
Did Richard III forcibly usurp the throne of England?
What part did Richard III's Queen, Anne of Warwick, play in the assumption of the throne by Richard Plantagenet?
Why did Richard III have his brother, the Duke of Clarence, drowned in a vat of wine?
Did Richard III kill the princes in the tower?
Why did Richard III make his fatal charge at Bosworth?
These are some of the questions still being asked about the last Plantagenet King, Richard III, and answered in a unique historical novel, "Desire the Kingdom" by Paula Simonds Zabka. Richard III, whose name is synonymous with villainy as depicted by Shakespeare, is presented in a different light. Holding to high principles of loyalty, he strives to support his king as he pursues his love for Anne. While confronting betrayals, insurrections and family strife, he continually fights his conscience after taking the throne, following the death of his brother and King, Edward IV.

For Richard's Queen, Anne Neville, daughter of Warwick the Kingmaker, life becomes one of survival. As she struggles in her love for Richard, she becomes caught up in the desire of others to claim the throne of England by treachery, deceit and murder in the war between the Houses of York and Lancaster.

I think I was up to number 26 from looking at past posts Rolling Eyes As I have had no internet I have read countless books I will try to remember some but may not have authors.

27) The Memory Keepers daughter - Kim Edwards
28) Fatal majesty - ?
29) The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck
30) The constant Princess - Philappa Gregory
31) The Brethren - John Grisham
32) The De-Vinci Code - Dan Brown
33) Down River - ?
34) The Time Travellers Wife - Audrey Nif??

Some are re-reads and I have read some rubbish stuff and given it away again and can't even remember what it was Rolling Eyes

What does everyone else think about De-Vinci Code by the way? I was disappointed, OK as I was on holiday at the time and borrowed it from mother-in-law, but, expected more.

Good to be back Very Happy Very Happy
