: Khaled Hossenini
A fictional story based on two women's life in Afghanistan before and during Taliban reign. Although hard to understand women's status over there it is still a very good story and keeps you wanting to read on

Couldn't put this book down and read within two days. A very reflective account of friendship between two boys mixed with history of Afghanistan. Just when you think something might happen, the author takes it in a different direction so it's not predictable. A story of father and son, friendship and betrayal and the casualties or fate

Karyn Bosnak, A light hearted look at a womans search for Mr Right, having created a self imposed maximum number of men she is allowed to sleep with, she accidentally reaches that number without finding Mr Right, so she revisits all 20 to see if she actually met him and let him slip through her fingers. A bit of a no brain strain reading but an enjoyable read Very Happy

by Richard Hammond. Number 1 son got this for Christmas and never put it down (very rare sight indeed to see a 15 year old so avidly reading). I then took the opportunity to read it as well and found the story of "the crash" and his recovery from it interesting.

It was one my mum leant me veggie, thought it was going to be one of those Irish ones about the laundries, so was pleasantly surprised by the tale - what the poor wives and kids went through is just incredible Shocked very well told though Very Happy

Thanks for the reminder about Angela's Ashes Shirazee, really enjoyed reading it again Very Happy Very Happy

As a review:

A taste of the hard days of Ireland told in a way where you feel for their poverty but basic human love and survival shines through.

Another book that I have read many times and keep going back to. Based on times before, during and after WW1 and very well written. It concentrates on a family experiencing the war in very different ways, very readable and emotive.
