just like some advice, I work with a 4 year old boy with GLD. In the interview I was not told that I would have to change his nappy while he was in the setting, and it is not in the job description.

If the other children dirty themselves the parents are called in to clean them up. Well I took this to the senco of the school and I was told that all TA's had to, and this is in their job description (which alot of them are unaware of)

As he is in mainstream school and is quite a big lad I am having problems picking him to put him on the bed to change.

Is anyone in the same sort of situation?

Not personally but we have a child in the Nursery and a child or two in school that need changed. If you are having difficulties it could be a H&S issue and needs looking at before you have back problems. Suitable alternatives need to be looked at......changing mat on the floor.

I work with children in the juniors who require daily changing due to their medical conditions and we have rise and fall beds in our large bathrooms . Obviously if your pupils needs are longterm the school will have to set something up as he gets older and bigger .At the very least you should have been given some manual handling training to ensure you are lifting correctly so you dont injure yourself . I would ask about the beds seeing as you said you use a bed you have to lift him on so i`m thinking there would be room for one in the setting then .
