Has anyone purchased any HLTA books and have you found them helpful ?

I looked at some today in Waterstones including
Becoming a Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant: Meeting the HLTA Standards - Professional Teaching Assistants
by Richard Rose, Ken Bland

I put it back in favour of another SEN one but wonder if anyone has found it useful. It seemed to be full of the standards but had a few ideas.I didn't think there was enough in it for the price. Confused I might by it through the forum if anyone thinks it is worth it.

I have also tried to find H.L.T.A books to help me with the course. I travelled into Birmingham and went to all 'good books shops'.

There doesn't seem to be much out there.

Please let me know if anyone finds one!!

We were issued with The Essential Guide for Higher Level Teaching Assistants by Anne Watkinson but to be honest I think they are a waste of money. It's a guide to show you what level you should be working at to be HLTA. Doesn't give information for task writing, documentary evidence etc to meet the standards.

That's right DQ. One for Teaching and Learning, the other Professional Values and Practice.
