The Speech and language therapist will show the T.A.different ways of helping the child use grammar, pronunciation, speech and any other issues that could arise. Between them they will carry out effective programs and observations.
The T.A. will sometimes have to go to the Head teacher or Deputy Head Teacher for assistance in implementing school policies and playground issues, this is where the school policies might come into place, such as, the anti bullying policy. TAs are not just part of the staff, but are part of a team, and as such their remit includes translating school policies into practice and furthering the ethos of the school. The Head teacher overseas the running of the school and very little contact might be needed, but if the T.A needed to come into contact with the head teacher it may be because there is an issue with bullying or an issue with the teacher that my line management might not be able to resolve.
The T.A. may come in contact with the Health and Safety representative. If there are any issues to do with Health and Safety these are to be reported to them. Loose cables or Loose ceiling boards. There might be smaller issues that might not need to be brought the Health and Safety representatives attention and it might be something that the Site Manager or Caretaker might be able to take care of, such as, a child vomiting, blocked toilets and minor maintenance issues.
Subject Managers or Subject co-ordinators assistance will be called upon if the Teacher and /or T.A. are running low on resources, such as general shortages of stock.
If the child has a behaviour problem the child might be referred to an educational psychologist, this could liaise on a Statement to help the child and will record progress and targets to help the child aim for.
For the physically disabled an occupational therapist might be involved in coming into the school regularly and may work with the Teaching staff and helping the T.A. show the child different exercises they might need to do. They will work on ways to develop different strategies for the child’s progress and learning
There may be something here you could use.
