Any ideas for this would be really appreciated. I have been doing some speech and language work with a girl who finds it difficult to produce the 'v' sound at the end of words - e.g sleeve, drive etc, she tends to produce the sound as an 'f'. The resourses I have been given are one sheet of paper with pictures and words on. I don't usually do SALT stuff but I really want to make sure this girl enjoys her learning and maybe make it a bit more fun for her. Does anyone have any resource ideas or games we could play that would hold her attention during a 10 minute session. Thanks in advance Very Happy

I looked but it wasn't anything to do with speech and language therapy. Thanks for the details anyway.

How old is the child? Can she hear the difference in the sounds? Can she produce it in isolation? Does she always pronounce it incorrectly.

Play lots of games where she repeats the words with the 'v' but make sure it's a pure sound. Many children enjoy playing pairs (where they have to find 2 pictures the same) but they say the word each time they turn a picture. Use the sounds at the beginning of words first then the end and finally the middle.

When they can say the words they then say a simple sentence containing the word - the sleeve is long.

Make a board game with pictures containing the sound. Throw a dice to move around the board saying the words they land on. Fishing game.

Black sheep press have lots of resourses - not very inspiring as in black and white but can be coloured and adapted.

Lotto with words containing the sound. Make a scrapbook with pictures of things beginning with 'f' and 'v.'

Have you got any advisory teachers for speech and language or a language base where you can get ideas.

Minimal pairs are also good. The child has to distinguish between words that sound similar. Bee/pea, bin/pin. Not sure if they have any for f and v and it's half term next week so can't check.

I'll have a think and get back if I think of anything else.

Hollyw

She is 6. She can hear the difference in the sounds and produces it in isolation. However it's when she uses it as an end sound that it turns into an 'f'. We have been playing simple sentences using the pictures I have, which are a bit like your suggestion for 'the sleeve is long'.
She would like the scrapbook idea as she loves looking at the pictures, I will see what I can come up with. I will also check out Black Sheep press. Thanks for all the ideas they are very much appreciated Very Happy
