As part of my BTEC in Early Years I have to write about different routines I carry out within the age groups 0-1yrs, 1-3, 3-5 and 5-8. I've managed all the age groups so far, with routines such as nappy changing, taking the register, feeding etc; but I'm struggling to think of any for 5-8yr olds which are different from the ones I've got for 3-5yr olds. The sheet has a section for my supervisor to sign which says "The above person has carried out this routine competently", but all the routines I can think of for 5-8yr olds are ones that the children carry out, not really ones that I carry out myself? I just supervise them.

I'm going to check with my tutor next week if these are ok to use, but just incase they are not can anyone think of any routines they might carry out with 5-8yr olds? The ones I've got for 3-5s are "Getting children ready to go to lunch", "getting children ready for PE", "children arriving in a morning" and "leaving/hand over to parent/carer".

Thank you!

What about any First Aid, do they have fruit and milk in the mornings. If you are overseeing it I think that should still count as you are'encouraging the children to learn independant skills.'

Yes I might find they're ok to use when I ask at college this week. Thanks for the ideas though, First Aid routines would be a good one as I can write about how accidents and incidents are recorded aswell.
