Just out of interest - how many assistants actually have to wipe a child's bottom?

Asking because we have a boy who is physically disabled due to an accident. He is 15. When he does a No 2 at school the assistant has to wipe his bottom!

I know that I would not have the stomach to do this Embarassed

We don't. Are not permitted too.

But a child with a physical disability should have a support staff member who is willing to, and the post should be advertised as such.

Thanks Trueblue - that would make sense - advertising the job instead of putting the pressure on staff to comply when they did not expect to be doing something so sensitive

I was thinking that maybe a specialist 'carer' should accompany him = and be paid accordingly

With a boy this age no way should a female/male assistant be with him alone under these circumstances even if he/she is a 1:1. They should always be accompanied by a second person.

I am toilet training a physically disabled boy in y2. I was only asked to do this for a couple of weeks until someone else was appointed and i am still doing it 3 months later. It definitely was not in my job description. Confused
