No, HLTA job applicants have to have the status. When I started to do FD, we were told that HLTA would be part of it, however that was not possible as it has to be school based and you have to be working to that level then prove it.

Having said that some FD courses are using a module for you to do that but it is still the HLTA that everyone else does. Well certainly in the East Midlands anyway. Others might know different.

I recently went to an information meeting for HLTA. We were told that the qualification had to be a specific TA course and not Childcare and Education. Not sure if your course qualifies.

My degree is for TAs, but still had to do HLTA for status.
