Hi, got my second nvq assessment coming up in about a week and want to finish off my numeracy stuff if I can.

I could do with some advice on any activity I could do with a reception age boy which might be quick and easy to do/set up etc that might include aspects of measuring in some way and 2D and 3D shapes.

I guess it could be a tall order to do it all in one, but worth a try eh?

Thanks!

Reception age children, measuring would be bigger than/ smaller than type stuff I would imagine? Why not try to get him/her to sort shapes by type and then arrange in size order? eg have different size squares/ triangles/ circles, etc then arrange in size. 3D shapes such as spheres and cubes you could get marbles/ balls/ dice/ cardboard boxes, etc. they could sort onto a piece of card with the name and a picture of the shape to help recognition.

we used different shaped ice cubes. that way they could feel what the shape felt like too. also it's a lot of fun.
