on the new IEP i have for one of the children i work with it says 'spelling rules'.

can you ppl think of any?

the only ones i can come up with are:

i b4 e except after c
the silent e
when its s and when its es as a plural - when is it either?!!
dropping the y and adding ies

not sure how to 'teach tthis to a child whith dyslexia who's memory skills is part of the problem.

feel abit out of my depth here.

not difficult!

You should have copies of Progression in phonics for KS1 and Spelling bank for KS2 in school which you'll find of use. If you can't find them you can obtain them from Dfes publications. They used to be free.

There are a few games/activities here that you may be able to use with the child (depending on age!)

Not a very good SMART target for an IEP catbells, a bit vague, especially for a dyslexic with memory skill problems.
i would ask if it could be made more specifc, sticking to a couple of rules at a time, if the child reaches those targets quicly then change them.

I've had the same problem with some of my IEP's. I spent ages looking it up online. I only started the job in January and had to do the IEP reviews in March. I spoke to the SENCO as I said it was a bit vague and she just said to reinforce the rules that you mentioned in your original post.

On the reviewed IEP's, I've been more specific as it was apparant that we were aiming too high - eg. consonant clusters for a dyslexic who couldnt even read cvc words.
