Hi all,
had my assessment visit yesterday, I think all went well, at least I hope it did!
I know I'll receive a letter in approx 6 weeks, just wondering, do school get sent a copy of the results too?
I'm hoping I can blag it and say I've passed even if I don't. LOL
Thanks
Angel |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, that's a relief!!!!
I suspect some of the teacher's (well one to be fair) would quite enjoy hearing I've failed, which incidently I will not!!
School hasn't been very supportive. The old head didn't agree with TA's or HLTA's teaching whole classes (even though we did). The teacher's also like to point out that they too don't agree in principle (Why did we spend all those years studying, one said) but again they plan for us to teach their classes.
Never mind I enjoyed the challenge, even if it isn't recognised at school.

My school never heard until HT was invited to a celebratory function organised by the borough.
I had no support from school as a whole....wasn't given anytime to work onsite/with mentor/CT........HT advised was embarked on off my own back and there would not be any HLTA posts in the foreseeable future
3 of us have the status and still all have to take on lunchtime duties, NOT what I became a TA or HLTA for
Good luck Angel, everything's crossed. _________________ “Do not watch the petals fall from the rose with sadness, know that,

I'm afraid it is only too common Rose I stupidly expected some support and had very little althought the SENCO who I don't work directly with has been brilliant.Gave me several meetings one quite lengthy to chat about the changes to SEN.
Likewise Angel I was glad to hear it went to you althoughthe HT was surprised to hear that and checked with the assessor on the day.The HT is in favour of HLTA's doing PPA- lets face it we are much cheaper than a supply teacher. :shock:and he has the budget to consider. However there are quite a few CTs that don't agree and although they were told to keep their opinions to themselves there has been little snide remarks or I don't want them to use that medium after I have done my planning.Twice told the kids not to do it the way I have told them. Now this would be fine in some subjects but I have an 'A' level in Art and a GCSE equivalent in Tech. Drawing so I get a little off about it.I feel if they don't like why not teach their own class and forgo PPA! |

Angel , Im so sorry to hear how AWFUL your coworkers are - I hope your hear soon and that its positive. Im fortunate my head and teacher were brilliant infact Im not sure I should have bothered with my file - I should have left it up to them .On the positive side its a status to take to a new job with you come September perhaps somewhere where you are more appreciated

Is there a possibility that you could be rewarded the HLTA status but not be paid to that level or is it a case of, when the school support you in your application, they agree to pay you at that level? |

In my case, if I get the results I want, I will not be paid for it or do the job unless paide HLTA salary for all week. |
