If you do the planning and prep why don't you stick together and refuse for next year.I am going to be paid HLTA rate if I pass for PPA. This has been agreed but if they back track so will I. Just think for a minute how much the head is earning.

I have this sneeky feeling that a lot of schools are going for the HLTA as they get funding, staff that is well trained and willing to take on responsibilities, whereas the staff get a qualification, new responsibilties and no financial reward. I know that this is the case where I am and this is why I'm holding back from going for it. Why should you do all the work, extra responsibility for no financial reward? I know that some teachers are not keen on HLTAs as they see it as a way to have a teacher without the salary. This is my personal experience and I well understand that there are those that have been successful and are fully rewarded and thoroughly enjoy what they are doing. It just isn't happening where I am.
