MY CT has just rung me to see if I have any ideas for this (for her daughter actually who is doing her final teaching practice)

Has anybody done minibeast sculptures? Any ideas/pictures/web links would be most appreciated

What about a mini beast garden. Making the mini beasts from old branches, twigs etc., and using twine and raffia to fasten bits together forming bodies and legs. Ponds can be made from old washing up bowls sunk in the soil. She can scale the mini beasts up if she wants and have something that the chilren could walk about. If the school has a proper garden she could position the sculptures underneath plants and ontop of large stones.

Have you any idea of the age of the children Rosie?

Depends on the age. Modroc would be an excellent medium for this.Crushed foil first to get the shape of the body and then pieces of Modroc covering it adding things like wings from cellophane with pipecleaners for support. Then paint them when dry.She may need to be careful if they are little ones and use gloves.
