I dont know why i am making such a mountain out of a molehill with completing this application form. praps something to do with the fact that i haven't completed such a form for yonx and i'm just really struggling with what i'm meant to say.
for example...
i've got to show that i have a working knowledge of the national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies. similarly to show that i have an understanding of principles of child development and learning processes.
what on earth am i meant to be saying?
or how do i show that i have such a knowledge.
this is starting to remind me of the NVQ3 and i'm beginning to think i'm stupid...
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you.

Catbells,
Not sure if this helps, one thing I learned was that I was wasting a lot of time and applications by answering things on applications that I did not need to.
For example the point of studying NVQs and in particular to level 3 and above is to show prospective employers you do indeed have this kind of knowledge? There for you have demonstrated your knowledge and understanding by having the certificate and this has been externally tested?
You can reinforce this in other parts of your application by using keywords so that they stick out in the persons mind who is vetting the application form.
For instance it is usual in the work experience section to give the main duties of the roles you have had.
'helping the children to understand the content of subject to levelx of the national curriculum'
'finding and/or developing relevant resources for differentiated learning'
'support the emotional development/motor skills/social skills'
'helped in the development and/or monitoring of IEP'
The above is probably poorly worded, but hopefully you get the idea.
I used to struggle with things like 'able to work according to company policies and procedures'. How in the goddess's wisdom was I supposed to demonstrate I could do this when I clearly would not know what they are? However I can demonstrate through my work experience the ability to cope with emergencies including fire, flooding, chemical spillage and even being cut off by armed police from sending out parts by following policies and procedures and by use of imaginative thinking - ie knowing when and how to break/bend the policy and procedures in as safe as way as possible. _________________ Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye. |

Thanks DQ and George
I'm getting there but just need to shorten it and cut out the duplications.
a long process it is...
still its no bad thing to be doing this - it clarifies again in my own mind what i can do - what i do do...alot of these days without thinking about it.
and even if i dont get the job though hopefully i may get an interview it is ALL valuable experience. Something i am badly lacking in the application process.
going to continue with it this afternoon.

just supposing i do get this interview what info can i take with me? for example the job is all about interventions. can i take results of the children i have worked with if i blank out the names?

they phoned me this morning.
seen the Head and she's going to fit me in to her busy schedule on Thursday just to run through a few things.
