Hello,
This is my first post, so I apologise if this has already been discussed elsewhere!
I just wondered if anybody else feels compelled to give a gift to the children at the end of the summer term (can't believe we're there again!) and what you give?
I gave sweets last year, but find they get so many, mine go largely unnoticed.
Also, any original ideas for what to give the teacher you work with? I gave mine a box of showergel etc from the Body Shop last year, and then at Christmas I received it back from her! (Assuming it was a genuine mistake!) Not going there again this year....
Thanks for your ideas! |

fun pencils, rubbers, little notebooks or story/activity books or small class photo or a certificate with an award for everyone with funny categories.. i dont buy gifts for mine but then they are much older
as for teachers...im not sure i would get invoved in buying presents for everyone, would rather go for a meal or drink/night out with those i work with
Im sure Trueblue will have some good suggestions as this seems to be her forte _________________

LOL Dq
I am giving bubbles this year, thought it would make a change I prefer to keep away from school type pressies (pencils ect ---- sorry DQ) although last year I gave pens with a flashing character.. car boot cheapies I did make finger puppets one year, took me an age.
As for the teacher that very much depends on who I am working with. I usually keep an idea of the type of necklaces they wear (ASDA/BHS/MATALAN etc) .. however this year she is a chocoholic so..... _________________

I generally buy a box of choccies for the team and a smaller pressie for the CT.
For the kids.....love the idea of bubbles. Hadn't thought of that one. _________________ Lucybelle |

What I want to know is what do you do with all the gifts you get? I mean there can only be so many perfumed candles etc. a person can have. |

So it's a choccy necklace then. Very original True.

and may I point out that this TA is rather partial to emeralds. A pair of 2 ct earings would go down very well as an end of year pressy D.
How about the rest of you. We need to get D trained while we can. _________________ Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue

Very true about the kids saying thank you. I am in a new school so I had better find out if they give gifts out or not (don't want to cause difficulties if I do and no one has every done it before!) |

I always work in lots of classes so have given pencils sparkly, stripey etc because our kids often don't have one for homework. Have also given a class book although this is usually Christmas so they get the pleasure of it.If they are going up as a class you could get it for them to take with them......either a topic they will be studying next year or a facts book -animal ones are popular.
Teachers ...........I try to find something they like.
daisycat I keep them and use them.I have a box in the bathroom to keep things in and pop them in there. One year I didn't have to buy any shower gel all year I feel if the children have gone to the trouble of asking their mums if they can buy me a present then I should keep it even the cheap shower gel I quite enjoyed the glitter when I got used to be sparkly! |
