Hi i know i have to give 4 weeks but you can use your holidays for notice too so was going to give the 1st of aug till 1st sept.

What i was wanting to know was if i give it in now will it count from now or can i date it from august 1st?

As i want to make sure all is well with the move before handing in notice. Wink

if you intend to work until the last day of term, your resignation date should be 31/8. That way you give enough notice and will recieve your due holiday pay

So could i not give it in on the 1st of July and say i wish it to go from the 1st of aug that way it would be more than a months notice.I couldn't give it in on the 31st of aug because i wouldn't be able to come back to work at start of term 5th sept,

I would like to get my aug salary if i could so i thought if i gave it in 1st of july and said as from 1/8.08 i wish to work my notice.

I do intend to work up till the end of term which for us is 22nd july i only work three mornings a week

What I meant was to hand in your letter now giving the resignation date as 31 August. You would then work the last day of term and still be paid any leave entitlement and the school have time to replace you..

Right so i would finish on the 31st of august so in my letter i would put that i wish to resign as from the 31st July that would be a month then.

Sorry i'm not thick honest Embarassed but having never done this before and my HT been on the ball i didn't know if you could resign in advance and i didn't want the Ht coming back at me saying well you must go end of term if you resign now!

No you would put you wish to resign from 31 August, the months notice is just the least you have to give. You can give more.

Dear HT/Chair of Govs

I wish to tender my resignation as of 31 August 2008, I understand my last day in school will be 22 July. Then add you reasons etc..

Yours Poppygirl

Write to the school governors / HT now stating:

Code:
I write to give notice, as per terms of my contract of employment, that I wish to resign effective 31st August, 2008.

You are required to give them at least 4 weeks' notice - you will have given them more notice - you would cease to be employed as of 31st August.

Great suggestions! Just used them to write my letter of resignation as well! Always worried about those gaps when you go from one job to another with the summer holidays between. Seems really strange I am resigning from one job to take one with less hours but hopefully September will be a lot happier Very Happy
