Nope don't get a say don't even get told why,we got a slip of paper telling us all who is where next year.
My teacher asked for me and begged and begged but they need me elsewhere,so she didn't get what she wanted either.
I am to work with an NQT in September and have been told she needs alot of support!!! She needs alot of organisation and help sticking to the curriculum, surely thats a teachers job and not the TA's job!!!Haha

It is but a good TA can train the NQT in certain aspects like an outline of planning and about informing TA's of changes instead of getting to work and finding someone else teaching and you are not taking you group out for phonics/spelling because you are not doing Literacy now, !/2 the kids have gone on a trip, they are practising for assembly, etc.

You can help them ORGANISE the classroom.

Ohh I could make a long list.Unless they are cocky I have always found the NQT's very grateful.

I too am working with an NQT next year. Not really bothered about that too much as I havent worked with one before but was more miffed about going to year 3 and also being made full-time but only having 25 hours when others TAs have more hours but do the same amount of work.

I am applying for other jobs that are full-time but with 30+ hours, so will have to see where I end up!

8 Members of staff are leaving so what does that tell you about our school?? Shocked

although i was never with an assigned class i always found NQTs were the ones who would take on board support and advice about students

I have worked with an NQT this year and she has gone out of her way to fill me in on things that happen with children/parents when I am in another class. She is also kind, considerate and not at all threatened that I knew more about certain aspects of our school than she did. It may have been because she used to be a TA but then I know another teacher who used to be a TA and she is very controlling and not at all the same. Smile
