I am a hard of hearing TA , qualified through NCFE(level 2), previously I was a hygienist nurse (college qualification)and gained BTEC level 3 while living abroad, I tried for almost one year to get a job without any successful outcome. The teacher from my placement gave me a rubish reference letter which enforced extra assessments for me during my final exams, if I will have time I will put here , her oppinion.
Any presumable employer is scared at the prospect of taking me in due to my disability.Right now I am at the end of my wits,I hope that you might know someone in similar situation or give me some ideas.
Thanks a lot & have a great time!

I agree with Summer.

Have you considered a placement with children who are also hard of hearing? We have HI units in my town (within the primary/secondary schools) and I know they have hard of hearing support workers by preference. They are not confined to the units either!

Thank you,summertime!
The lady stated:
"Mrs. X has worked to support small groups and individual children in literacy and maths. She shows good subject knowledge but sometimes misunderstands instructions given to the children, which has on occasion led to confusion. She shows initiative and when she has finished changing books, as she will identify children to help and also float around the class. However there have been occasions in which the chidren have found it difficult to understand her and she found it difficult to understand them."

This is the negative part of the letter , copied exactly as it is in the original paper work.During this year this teacher worked with Year 6 class instead of Year 4 as she did previously while I worked with her.
This letter could be a far cry for a person supposed to deliver the right outcome for this stage .My child is still learning in that school and my hands are tied.

I would like to do any kind of work, right now.

It is quite hard to find this type of placement,it is terriblr , because my work was enjoyable and children keep coming forward and have a chat with me,even after one year, she was the one bothered almost permanently.

For one month and half I did the TA's job on my own, as the lady on that position was on sick leave, they seemed to be happy and gave me a temporary position as a Midday assistant during lunchtime ,after this letter in one week time my paid work was over.
