I really enjoyed it Razz Set in the 1780/90s. Punishments that certainly would not fit the crime nowadays. Admiration for those who had to endure such hideous conditions. Based on a true story. I was hoping for more of an uplifting ending Confused

It was scary to find that people were sentenced to death, or their sentence reduced to transportation for such trivial offences Shocked

I started reading this book and very quickly realised I had read it before, but as I remembered it being an really good story I carried on reading and wasn't disappointed.

An excellent tale, as Rose said based on a true story, of a very strong woman, who sacrifices so much for her freedom.

I agree with Rose that the ending is a little disappointing. For someone who so much is known about a large part of her life you are left pretty much in limbo at the end not knowing what happened Confused

A recommended read thumbsup

read this while i was away, easy to read and a page turner

i seem to remember a TV special on a similar story a while back because i knew the story

i would have liked more to the ending, those who have read it will know what i mean, but a good story of a brave woman and her struggle for survival, i do wonder though if she was as 'good' and clever as the story made her out to be

a good book to pick up and read though, didnt need a lot of concentration to remember names or where you were in the story, im sure i will read some of the authors other books

I know what you mean about the ending DQ, you'd think that as it was based on a true story more would have been known about what happened to her Confused
