i was telling him not to go.....

i thought i could predict the ending, and i sort of did, but thought it would be in a different way...if that makes sense.......but in a way it was the ending that made the most sense to the both of them...... Confused

but so hard to believe that i had to read it twice........ Crying or Very sad

yep, not been on for ages.

I enjoyed this book even though it was sad. I guessed who the fury was but it took a while to work out that out with was Autwitz(can't spell sorry!) I realised it was a concentration camp but was unsure which one.

An unusual take on a familiar story. I found the part about the train journey very profound. Why indeed couldn't they have shared trains!

yea the 'fury' was easy..then 'out with' it all started to fall into place

i think the whole idea was to show how far apart they were...so they both wanted to be in each others shoes in a way, but couldnt understand what was going on around them.....how there really was not any difference between the two of them......they couldnt share the trains..the jews were not human......yet they didnt know that

it was almost like they were kindred spirits....and their final togetherness was so profound.....you knew what was going to happen, but you wanted them to be togehter...

so sad but so good...and sorry if we have spoilt the book for anyone else

it kind of hit me in a different way, with my child protection head on it struck me how easy children normalise life whatever it is like and hence why children living in awful conditions and suffering from what we would term as terrible abuse dont talk about it because they assume everyone else is living in similar conditions

yes thats a good point. They just accept life don't they sometimes, no matter how awful.

He didn't question what was happening because his father was such a wonderful man and he believed in him.

I'm going to re-read it when I get it back. My senco has it at the moment.

Far from putting me off this book, you all intrigued me to find out what was going on and I went to the library and got it out. Thoroughly enjoyed it (even if the ending was sad) and have recommended it too a few friends. Very Happy

A book i enjoyed but also one i know i shall not read again,. not needing to somehow.

I was willing him not to go either...and then felt somehow relieved that they were together. that they each had a hand to hold.
