Hi
Wasn't really sure where to put this so sorry if it is the wrong place
At my school they have advertised for a Level 2 TA and I asked HT if I had enough experience to apply and she just said 'that depends on what everyone else has' she also gave me the impression that she wouldn't go out of her way to help me get the job I didn't want her to just give me the job but she could have encouraged me a little.
What would you do? I have only been a TA for a few years and have worked in KS1 and 2. How much experience do I need before I can apply for the next level?
I look forward to your replies. |

I have a sneaky feeling your HT is hoping to get someone who is infact over experienced and qualified i.e. more for her money and that person is you, even if she doesn't realise it now, she will when she interviews you. |

I too think she is looking for someone with lots of experience and as she has sorted out where everyone is going next year she really doesn't want to change it so I don't even think I would get a look in and she just ignored me today.
I have just completed and passed my NVQ levle 3 teaching assistant course so think it maybe a good idea to look further afield. |

I would still go for it. remember at interview it will not be just up to her. there will also possibly be a governor & another member of staff.
If it's a no then look further afield. _________________ Lucybelle |

I have decided not to apply for the job. But will look at others elsewhere.
There are two jobs going one is working in reception on a 1:1 basis which I don't think I am ready for and then the one I was interested in. They had the interviews yesterday for the Reception job and I found out that they interviewed a girl who has been in this week on work experience (she is about 17) what experience does she have? I know it isn't her fault going for the job but really after what the HT said to me last week I wasn't very happy when I found out and I am sure I am making more of it than I should but this job also asked for experience.
Sorry for ranting on |

Do you know who got the reception job? Was it someone with more experience than you?
I think its very hard applying for a post within the school you are working, I did a while back and didn't get it I was dissappointed, but know I didn't interview as well as I would have if I had been to a school that didn't know me.
I think your head was just playing it safe, when we advertise we normally have a huge response and quite often from people more qualified than the job. Maybe thats what your head was hoping for.
Good luck with the job hunting.

I think perhaps the HT was being kind to the young girl who probably hasn't had an interview before so it maybe they were just giving her an interview oppportunity. |

Hi Everyone
Just thougth I would let you know that I didn't go for the job in the end. The HT did comment after the closing date that she thought I would be good at the job (a bit late really). But I have applied for another job so if anyone have any interview tips that would be great. Also if anyone works with children with aspergers and could give me advice on working with children with this condition that would also be great.
Thanks for all your support |
