Was out shopping today with MIL and we were in a charity shop, suddenly became aware of 2 women acting strangely, I stared at 1 which un-nerved her and she put back what she was about to 'lift' and went back to her friend for advice, I looked for a member of staff and couldn't see one!

Moments later, this woman's back at the spot where the jewellery is and I spy a member of staff, I quietly tapped her on her arm and told her to keep an eye on her stock and motioned in the direction of the woman by the jewellery.

We then left the shop as my MIL didn't see anything she liked, it made me shake a little bit, but then made me angry Evil or Very Mad It's annoying that they take something that's not theirs. but from a charity shop as well censored

It is bad. Years ago I used to be assistant manager of a charity shop. It amazed me as to how often it occurred.

I did a car boot sale the other day and it even happens there.

I worked for a large clothing chain once. My friend and I saw the store detective pinching stuff!! Couldn't report her of course - no one would have believed us.

Shocked

I know in a local charity shop they keep an eye on one of our parents. Embarassed

I go in for things for school and they often offer them at reduced rates or free when they know it is for school.I pay the price unless we are buying lots and are really skint for the play. The shop was set up not just as a charity shop but to help the community so they keep the prices low.It makes me sick to think that parent needs to be watched.I overheard the ladies nudging each other and saying 'keep an eye out.'

I used to volunteer in a charity shop and shoplifting is always a problem.

I believe its the thrill of taking it as these are well heeled types.

The other complaint is when they quibble over the price and try to knock it down! For goodness sake its for charity.
