I didn't feel that his teaching style was right for teaching adults. My impression is that he was fitting this in around his normal work load and therefore hadn't had time to prepare sufficiently for the complex learning difficulties these students brought to the classroom.
I was surprised he was confused about the GCSEs, the Adult Literacy Teacher clearly said it was equivalent, that doesn't mean a GCSE. What it does mean that colleges and employers will take it into account, as we know when applying for HLTA etc.
I don't think I would have got on with him as my teacher, just like the other lady who didn't take the tests, good for her.
And, yes he was the english teacher in the previous series, that lost control of the young people due to lack of behaviour management.
I just hope this last episode didn't put off adults and teenagers who have difficulty with reading/numeracy, my classes weren't like this, the teachers were very sympathetic and encouraging and definitely didn't push you to run before you could walk. They were very aware of the baggage you bring with you from bad educational experiences.
