Our youngest son left his Primary School on Tuesday so hubby and I went to watch his leavers service, there were memories of school trips they had all been on, songs they all enjoyed singing, in fact a real trip down memory lane at times I could feel myself starting to get a bit tearful.
I thought I had 'held it together' really well until they announced they would be giving out some awards (the 1st time they had ever done this), several children were given books for being a hard worker, a good friend etc..
Then the Head of the Board of Govenors stood up and made a speach, he then gave out awards to children for sports achievements, being the chess champion and for being particularly arty, but then he said this next award goes to a young man who has thoughout his time at the school, has consistantly shown good manners, consideration to others and a genuine need to help others, he always gives his time freely and he got straight 5's across the board in his SAT's, I was sat there thinking wow!! somebody is going to be a proud parent, then he said the Governors award for Excellence goes to........ it was my sons name that he read out!!!
Needless to say the tears started, I am so very proud of him.
When we got home we also found out our eldest (who some may remember has had a few behaviour problems) won an award for behaviour and an award for attendance, so all in all we ended this school year on a double high! _________________
