As you know i gave in my notice at the end of term dated from the 1st of aug i said i would like to resign and my last working day would be the 31st aug,so the HT accepted that as i said i believe you can use your holiday as notice because if the school had been open i would have worked a month.

Then this morning i get a letter from the Education dept saying they had recieved my letter and my last working day would be the 22nd July Shocked

Whats that all about i stated in y letter that i was reigning from the 1st of aug so what shall i do Question

That it was all too easy...

Please excuse any sp's i don't have my specs on as i am so Evil or Very Mad

Have you got a copy of your original letter? I would contact your LEA and talk to them about it and if you have no luck there then contact your union.

Yes i have on the computer i saved it yes was thinking of ringing them on monday will they be there?

The LEA will be open as will pay roll. Contact your HT as well if you can. As it will have been him/her that will have given them the date.

Whenever anyone has left our school their last paid day was the last day of term. When my partner left it meant that she wasn't paid over the Christmas holidays. I would be surprised if they paid you for days that you did not work and you have no holiday entitlement as such. Sad

are you paid term time only cus that would make a difference

when i left my last school my last day was 31st august but I had a 52 week contract

I am not paid term time only i have a 52 week contract i have been there 12 years

They could just mean your last day actually in work is the 22nd July as there is no working in the summer hols.

If you're on a term time only contract then you wouldn't get holiday pay anyway. If you're on a term time contract that is divded into 12 (so you still get money in hols) then you would still get Augusts pay anyway, provided you have worked for the school since last september at least.

If it's a full year contract then ring "them" to clarify.

All the TAs that leave our school are paid up until the last day of August.

Hopefully when you make contact with the LEA/payroll/Human Resource you'll find that it has been a clerical error. Rolling Eyes

Well i rang the LEA this morning and explained about the letter and the lady said "oh thats not right not sure whats gone on here" so she said she would look into it and she rang back later today to say that it was a mistake and my date would be the 31st August as stated in my letter,she did say we always pay up to the 31st aug anyway so not sure what happened there Confused

So i have a new letter on the way and will get paid for august Very Happy
