I am currently applying to be a T.A at a secondary school and I come from a very art/design background. If I am given the chance to work as a T.A, then I would love to be able to use my creative skills and help students in Art, D&T and IT.
The job I am applying for is a great opportunity but I get the impression that it helping more with reading and writing etc...
I would really appreciate hearing about other peoples experiences, and if they get to help in areas that they are most suited to, or if they are put in the areas that most need help.

hi, i have been a ta for about 4 years now, started as general now work mainly in ICT. we run clubs at lunchtimes and get paid for it, i ran an art club for 3 years this was brill for the strays. it also gets your foot in the door for the art dept, i currently support in gcse art. you will find where you fit in best once you start. good luck.

it all seems to depend on your school. where i work our boss leaves it pretty much up to us where each TA goes as long as all the lessons that need to be covered are covered. She is a great believer in using our skills to benefit the schol.
