Not sure where to put this. just wanted to share. A child from my school has just died after being hit by a car. Cant believe it. So tragic. 10 years old. Really testing my faith right now.

not sure how this is going to affect other children when we go back. Anyone else had to deal with this???

That is such an awful situation, one luckily I have not had to face.

My only suggestion with the children is to let them have time to talk about. They need to.

That's so sad. So young.

When something similar happened at my son's school a place was set aside for anyone to put their thoughts and memories about the child. Children congregated there and comforted each other and a member of staff was available. A special assembly and later a memorial tree planted in the grounds. Staff were available to comfort children at any time and his special friends were permitted to leave lessons if they became upset.

Gradually things returned to 'normal'.

School will be a very sad place at the beginning of term.

Hugs to you, the family and the school. hug

time needed for the staff to support one another too. often brings up other memories which get triggered at such times.

ongoing space and time needed.

oh Lollypop - these things do test our faith. be gentle with you.

so hard to understand why...

Lollypop that is really tragic news, I'm sure it won't be easy going back to school. Maybe a memory book could be made for the children to write down a memory of the child, perhaps a copy could be kept in school & the original passed onto the family. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone concerned hug

How sad. Hearing things like that sends shivers down my spine and always makes me want to cry. When we were on holiday a couple of weeks ago, a 10 year old drowned at the end of the road we were staying on. It really upset me and certainly put a grey cloud over the holiday.
Encourage the children to talk about it but don't force it with questions, let them do it in their own time.
Thinking of you and the school.

Crying or Very sad That's really sad news and i'm sure the beginning of term will be a difficult time but like the others say a memorial book or having a tree planted will help everyone grieve and i'm sure the family would appreiciate it.
