At 16 years of age i don't think they are mature enough to work in a classroom. We have had students on work experience aged 15 and 16 and the children don't see them as teachers or assistants and don't give them the same respect. (not that we have disrespectful children it's just they see them as fun) Also they don't all have the right attitude towards to work (not all though), we have students from the local college and they are always phoning to say they won't be coming in. I don't want to stereotype though as I know there are some very hard working young people. I wonder sometimes that people think it is an easy route coming into school to work with children and we all know it isn't, it is really hard work and you have to be dedicated to what you are doing!
