Some of you may have heard my moans about not being able to get tickets for Hamlet at Stratford and the immoral prices being charged by people on ebay
We have just come back from a few days in Warwick, had a great day at the castle, free, courtesy of the link I posted in the Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | - then went to the theatre on the Saturday morning after finding out there was a queueing system for returned tckets (what kind of peasant am I )
We waited two and a half a hours, during which time we met several interesting people, including a Canadian woman and a young American guy, and were entertained by four young drama students, as well as Patrick Stewart wandering round, very casually dressed in baseball cap, to get brilliant tickets (though we were in mirror seats in the stalls at opposite sides of the theatre.) The whole performance was superb - David Tennant was absolutely brilliant - Rose you would have paid a fortune to have traded places with me I was sat by an aisle & David Tennant passed within a foot of me several times during the performance
The best thing was...............as I had tried to get the tickets for hubby's birthday, and as I had been unsuccessful I had been reluctant to find out more about the play as I thought it would jinx our chances of getting tickets so when we finally got tickets about half an hour before the start of the performance, (I was still shaking ) I had to quickly ask hubby to give me a brief explanation of the plot, as all I knew was that Hamlet spoke to his Father's ghost
Have just today booked tickets for Romeo & Juliet at the Lowry in Manchester as we loved the performance of Hamlet so much, it absolutely made our few days away especially the fact that we watched a Shakespearean performance actually in Stratford |
