Do you know. you ppl come up trumps every time
i'd never thought of calling him Mr Catbells - but of course he is...
Mr Catbells off to see new company this afternoon - to meet current IT manager and to meet whoever,.
Lovely to see he's more relaxed and whilst there's of course the small thing of starting all over again and the newness of a new place and his job to get to grips with - i'm just so thrilled for him. and a bit more money around the place will help.
Thank you for you all your care and support. Much appreciated and i've enjoyed reading your posts in this thread.

To Mr Catbells and good luck I'm sure after the first week is over he will feel like he has always been there!
I just want to add to what Fleur said that we are here for each other on this forum, I have been a member of lots of different forums but this one has got to be the most genuine and welcoming one, you can have a moan, share some good news or just waffle on and you know somebody will either offer support, congratulate you or waffle on with you!
Keep up the great work everyone! _________________

i think he is wanting to find out just what they are expecting of him.
i think he will be THE IT Dept....
and so there is a limit to what one person can do in the course of a day. they are talking about him setting up the new department when they move premises in the spring. its not that he cant do things...its what is physically possible and hopefully marrying their ideas and his ideas together. of just what is achievable.
and being a small company it is much easier to get rid of ppl if they're not performing up to standard whatever that is... So i'm hoping he can come away with something positive and then we can more ably relax...

Hi Catbells, just wanted to let you know that my hubby started a new job in January with a small company and he couldn't be happier (he's worked for a big & medium size company as well and this small company is by far the better employer ) |

In true traditional fashion I hope you took a photo of his first day.
Congratulations. Been there, you don't realise the pressure you are under until they get the new job, and then wow, the sun comes out, smiles all round.
Hope Mr C had a lovely time meeting his new colleagues. |

Mr Catbells feels ambivalent about this job. but feels he has no choice but to go with it. Living under the constant threat of redundancy is no way to live. The stress levels for him these past months have been awful and working in a company where staff morale is on the floor is naff too. ppl are leaving in droves and that's excluding the redundancies.
He knows deep down that he needs to bite the bullet and go...but like alot of others there feels pushed.
Unsure at this stage just what this new company's expectations are of him in his role. and whether at the end of the day he comes up to expectations.
i think too he will feel happier when he has handed in his notice to his current employer tomorrow.
i just ache for him. We've talked it through this evening. i can only be there and support and love him through this time.
Life is a risk isnt it - and sometimes you just have to jump...

Go and have a read through your wonderful inspirational quotes thread catbells and get Mr catbells to read it too. There are some lovely words written there; I have just spent 20 mins reading through it all and added a couple myself that mean a lot to me.
At least Mr C is making a positive move, even though it may not feel it at the moment, which brings more stabilty to life even with uncertainty.
Just thought of another quote....
A change is as good as a rest
Good luck and best wishes to all your family [enjoy that meal too ] |

i like the one written by Pooh Bear.
yes - there are lots there which feel significant to me also.
just hard when i can do little other than love him. and i know that that is immense in itself. support and encouragement and being listened too - really listened to are priceless skills.
we've been this place b4. i think i'm struggling a tad because alot of my good friends are away. and no psychotherapy for me either for another fortnight or so.
got to be the strong person and carry my 2 boys. the big one and the younger one awaiting results.
its just hard and i could probably do with a good howl...

Once he's handed in his notice tomorrow we have booked to go and see Mamma Mia.
i know its not particularly his kind of film but we seem to be a bit closer at the moment which is no bad thing. The lad surprisingly NOT !!! has opted out of coming with us...so we can chill out together.
