Made this for our neighbour's daughter as a wedding gift. What to give the couple who already have a home!

What a great idea JD. Very Happy I love those twists you're getting in the handles. How sore are your hands afterwards?

The handles are made by twisting 4 rods in each direction over a central thicker rod, you kinda roll them around the central rod. My hands were sore while I was doing it - keeping the tension without the rods slipping back as they are threaded through the basket to fix them is the hardest bit for me. Done 3 handles today as I redid 2 on 2 egg baskets I was asked to make - realised I hadn't done them properly, thankfully before they were posted!

I'm not touting for trade, but if anyone wants a basket, look at the different ones I've done to see and let me know approx size and colours. The baskets are all different - handmade by an amateur. To give you an idea of price, an egg basket that holds about 12-15 eggs is £20, a bigger one £25 +p&p. Just to let you know, the £25 one includes £9 of willow and an evening of my time to make it, possibly finishing time on top. A shopping basket would cost more.

I make them in my spare time, therefore don't expect a quick turnaround - and if I get a few orders, I'll let you know you're in a queue!

Two other baskets I'm about to post (£25 each), had to redo the handles first because I realised I had made a mistake!

Sorry if this seems blunt, but I've learnt the hard way to set things out first.

not at all Jaydee...always best to lay your stall out so to speak. i've no problem with that.

I shall have a think. and made by an amateur? you dont appear to be one and anyway i'm not sure it matters. Makes them unique and that bit more special. a labour of love...

Thank you

Catbells xx

Just making the point that I can practically guarantee they will not be completely circular, but they will be unique and very different to the usual mass produced baskets available.

I've been making them since October Teebee.

We had a willow weaving workshop at school during our annual Art Week. The older ones made plates, while the younger ones made fish, some were better than others, most complained about the smell (anyone who has done willow weaving will understand Rolling Eyes ) but all loved it Very Happy

I love the smell of damp willow! No one else seems to notice, must be coz it's small quantities.
