If you know any that we need or you want to know what one means start a new topic then one of the staff can move it to our list.

TA = teaching assistant
HLTA = high level teaching assistant
LSA = learnign support assistant
NN = nursery nurse
SENCO = special educaltional needs co-ordinator
InCO = Inclusion co-ordinator
PGCE = post graduate certificate of education
NQT = newly qualified teacher
PPA = planning preperation and assessment

HAP - Higher acheivement pupil
MAP - Medium acheivement pupil
LAP - Lower acheivement pupil

I dont like these terms (i find them derogatory) but these are what we use in our school

Cindy, I hadn't seen FLS or ALS used for anything but

FLS Further literacy support
ALS Additional literacy support

So thank you for posting that.

I just remember when I first started as a LSA and people used it freely in the staffroom. I know we all are used to it but newcomers to the job maybe a little confused.
