My daughters school has a kiln each class makes something different each year, they have made fish and a leaf with a caterpiller on it which can be hung on the wall, a basket and a pot, a hedgehog and for mothers day i received a cat which is a replica of our cat smudge its taken pride of place in our art gallery --- the bathroom (where you can sit and admire all their hard work!!) |

i don't know of any moulds but you could do a Wall plaque using a slab of clay which they push objects into to make a recess you could use things from out of the garden |

My daughter made a clay leaf in art at secondary - it was beautiful, but so simple - they pressed a curly kale leaf into the clay - great texture! They glazed them and we have it as a wall hanging. |

We also have a large tile display. It has pictures of landmarks, transport etc from the community. Some children also wrote short poems too.
We made secret pots/wish pots.
Depending on ability, I made a small wall plaque with a half pot attached which you can put a small plant or some flowers in.It has some toadstools attached to the side to make it look woodland- like as I had woodland theme for NNEB.It was easy to make, made in one afternoon, looked good when glazed and fired.Put a hole in top to enable you to hang it on the wall. You could sell some - good for self esteem.
Also once bought a candle holder like a little house - base detaches to place night light inside. Its cute the smoke comes out of the chimney ASD's would like that!
Have fun! You could also ask Art College they may offer to come and help. |

take 2 thumb pots and stick them together, gives an egg like shape (make sure you make a hole to let air out) this is the base for animals, heads, and lovely fish. |

I am doing HND part time at salisbury college as well as working as a TA and we did a tile decorating workshop for everyone including the foundation students (special needs) . we made the 4" x 4" tiles out of clay and then provided things for people to impress into the clay to decorate them and also cloured slips to use in decorating them.I have photos but i dont know how to attach them to a posting. if you want to see them e mail me off forum and I will send you some. jane _________________ Secondary TA with special interest in art, Speech and language and Occupational therapy |
