Hi Woody
I teach PSHE to a year 6 class for one hour on a Friday PM. Because it's this time of the day i try to make the lessons interesting.
From Sept to Dec we covered Health, which involved the pupils working together and producing a 30 min play containing their own songs, dance and role-play.
They said they enjoyed this a lot and it was a tough time for some having to share ideas and vote.

From Jan -Easter we have covered Citizenship, looking at news reports from our local paper on issues to do with anti-social behaviour and vandalism. Finished this last week with a visit from local police and the anti-social behaviour officer to explain about the consequences.

Newt term I will be covering transition- moving on. I will use dance and drama leading to them showing this during their last week in school, plus they will be producing a school leavers memory book using ICT.

Kids really enjoy it as it's only for an hour then it's assembly time, plus they say it's different from all their other lessons.

I do this for PPA!

What kind of topics have you been covering?

I follow AQA PSHE at Entry 3 so fairly easy as its all laid down for me. Usual stuff, sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll! Have to create my own worksheets though!!! How rude are they to expect me to do that!!
