I applied before Easter for a job at a high school with this job title.

I know it is not a TA role exactly ... but do any of you know of anyone doing this job?

They didn't send a job spec exactly - just a few lines on preparing/cleaning the cooking area, weighing ingredients and shopping(!).

The school has just phoned - asking if I can attend an interview on Monday afternoon... So I have the usual questions, please

What should I wear?

How much research should I do on the school?

What questions to ask ... etc


The lady that phoned me said the interviewers would be the Teacher and a governor - but it wouldn't be too formal ....

Also - regarding CRB's - is it normal practice to take ID etc to an interview - or is that done at a later stage?

we had a food technician at secondary when i was there, she did the same things as you have said,

there is a TA there now, apparently, taking some of the food tech classes.I dont know if this is the same role, its only what i have been told by a teacher that i keep in touch with

i would say wear smart casual, trousers/skirt and top......and if you have the CRB etc then take it, but im not sure if the school reapply for that. When i was given my last job the college sent off for a whole new check

find out about the school, behaviour, whether they specialise in any areas etc, their TA team...you never know a TA role may come up in the near future..

We were interviewing a few weeks ago and candidates were asked to bring ID with them. The school will do their own CRB check but will need your National Insurance number for that.

The advert did say the school would pay for an enhanced check and I wasn't asked to take anything, just thought I should be prepared!

Yeah I would wear something comfortable and tidy but practical in case they ask you to do something.Good Luck.
