Unit 2c PSHCE. I am at present delivering 'Nothing' (ha ha ha) in PSHCE. Anyone used this puppet before in Reception? I would like to introduce a more varied activity range. Any ideas welcome.

No links sorry, not that I know of. He is a small cloth cat who gets left in the loft and forgotten about. Then the family move and they are clearing the loft and when they come across him they say 'oh thats nothing' and he thinks his name is nothing. Ah bless! Then he finds his way out of the loft/attic and a cat finds him and takes him home. His home happens to be where his owners live and Grandpa recognises him and they fix him up as good as new. His real name is Toby. Its al about feelings and feeling safe.

For the first session I read the book Nothing and then the following week we wrote invites asking Nothing to come visit. Today Nothing came and the kids were really excited. (He is only a puppet!) Imade the most of it and explained that he wouldn't come out because he was nervous and shy. The kids were fab, they looked after this puppet al afternoon, tlking to him and showing him the areas of provision. We even took him outside to play.

PS Nothing is now on a no 13 wash cycle!! HA HA.

It was really sweet (I do love reception children sometimes). One child instead of passing Nothing nicely he threw him to another pupil. The pupil who caught him picked up Nothing and held him close and stroked his head and talked gently to him saying it was alright and he was safe now. Aww how cute is that?? I could hear all the while Brian Conolly ringing in my head 'Its only a Puppet'!! lol

Wednesday morning as I saw the children going into assembly they kept asking me if Nothing was coming to visit. The looks on some of the staffs faces was classic. Especially when one bay said 'I am doing a picture of Nothing'. ha ha

Oh and he is still the same size and didnt shrink in the wash. lol
