We all know that sometimes we buy software for school that looks good at the time and that within a few weeks we never use it again.

I thought it might be a good idea if we have a thread for software recommendations or even for software that you think is a waste of time. If possible would you let us know the advantages and disadvantages.

Only software that might be used within school please.

If you have a link to the software site please would you add it.

Revelation Natural Art is a fantastic art program and has many features including being able to animate your drawings.

It has three skill levels and also has different mediums to draw with, the paint even runs out until you click on the colour again!

Very Happy

We recently used the 2 animate programme and the children made their own animated mini beasts they really enjoyed it - great software and easy to use.

Max Write, Max Count, Max Show all are Maxtools. They are a simpe versions of Word, Excel and Powerpoint and are fab for KS1 pupils as they don't show some of the rubbish that can confuse them.

for Key Stage 1 pupils we use a program called Early Essentials. It consists of 5 beautifully designed, easy to use applications, all linked together through one interface, designed especially to introduce early years children to the creative use of ICT.
We think it's fab and it only costs around £49

Another great piece of software is Photostory 3. We use it to showcase the children's work, it's easy to use and it's free!

We use think.com for our year 3 email unit. Only students and teachers from member schools can enter this password-protected learning community. Once inside, members use websites and interactive tools to publish their ideas, collaborate on projects, and build knowledge together.
Once again it's free! Very Happy

We use the 2 simple programme in nursery...it helps develop mouse skills and has a number of games to use, i.e. creating their own pictures, counting skills, directional games, and it has different levels.

We also use it to assess the children as it covers so many different areas.
