Evening all, after xmas I am going to be taking a booster class in year 6. Can anyone tell me what they entail, what sort of work they do etc, Although I have experience in year 6, it hasnt been vast and I havent come across them before. In December I am going to work with the current TA, but after xmas I am going it alone.... Rolling Eyes

Any advice, websites etc would be most appreciated. Thank you x x

Champions of multi tasking are we. Maybe that's why we haven't many men on the forum as yet.

Look at me now. I'm doing the washing, reading this forum, posting on the forum, making up christmas pressy labels for school. Have you ever tried to find 70 odd suitable clip art pics at one go. Working out how I can put off the ironing for another day. Oh and yes, working out what I'm going to make for lunch and the phones just rung. Guess who's going to answer it?

hi there

are you doing english booster classes or maths

booster classes are all for SATS boosting.............etc bringing childrens marks up

so anything from letter writing, persuasive writing etc.

ask the class teacher for some resources or old SATs papers to work from

good luck

I have done lots of booster classes over the years. They can be SATs related but sometimes the school has targets in the improvement plan to push the attainment up in a certain area ie literacy - writing. Therefore teachers or TA's have targetted groups to concentrate on this area.

Usually the end product is for these children when they are in these booster classes is to take what they have learnt back into class.

I have always found these groups rewarding as most of the children you are given actually want to learn and try really hard. They give you a great sense of achievement. You will really enjoy these classes especially if yours are SATs related.

Happy Boosting ! Very Happy
