I have taken on doing more PPA this year and find myself facing my nemisis
reception children
I am the woman who interacts with a computer and maybe a couple of savvy year 6 if they're lucky, what on earth am I to do with these midgets.
i visited them for a half hour and started having palpatations when sand was flying all over the classroom! - did I really start my career as a simple classroom assistent, working with sand and water and paint, such a long time ago.
infact I remembered the other day that one of my first duties 20 years ago was to spend friday afternoon watering the plants and giving the teachers cups a jolly good wash!
How things change.

I'm lucky enough to be with the same children this year....both in class and at lunchtime....I have worked with both of the teachers before....half n half class this year......and we all get on really well (thats all the staff at school) 2 new TA's though with the downs girl that I also work with so will see how that goes but I am taking a lead with her so should be fine.

Kerryl i'm in reception, and it's great!
I've always prefered the younger children, I just love seeing them learn new things, and they do come out with the funniest things sometimes lol Smile
How did you find it?

Start of the first full week back and now have my timetable. VERY happy with it Very Happy .
For some reason not many of the other TA's like being in science or maths (secondary) Rolling Eyes So my timetable is full of it YIPPEE! Razz

Have done well. Only gone to the wrong lesson once and only misdirected two Year 7's so far......not a bad start. Finding getting use to moving lesson to lesson a bit tricky after transfering from Primary and being based in one year group (two classes). Still walking round a large site is good for my fitness levels......especially as the maths classrooms and the science block are at opposite ends and I spend my day dashing between the two.

WELL I have not yet got my own timetable sorted out or all my groups decided but it feels like all the other LSA's are up and running!!!!!!!!!

I'm split this year yr3 mornings and yr5 afternoons with HI child I have been with for 2 years. I've spent my time helping the others to get organised only to begin to feel that I'm sinking myself. Had to speak to another LSA today about being in the right place at the right time (I was told to speak to her) and felt such a hypocrite!

Is it really already 10 days since the term started????????
