as some of you know, i have taken on an extra area and am now responsible for co ordinating all the Learning support needs for the whole 'school' that i represent in my college
i went back to work last week and my feet havent touched the ground yet, meeting with new team members, organising testing and remembering all the problems from last year and how we covered them
i actually have had a few sleepless nights wondering if i will be able to cover all the timetables, which change frequently, but my Head of School has told me to tell him what i am doing and he will make sure everyone fits around that as much as possible
tomorrow we have all the new students in for a week of induction, and i will have to give a talk, im hoping the rest of the week wont be too stressful
i think the word is apprehensive at the moment, by next Sunday i will be on some semblance of normality, and working to some sort of timetable and planning my lessons and resources
hope everyone else is looking forward to the new challenges as much as i am 8) _________________

I don't have many changes to the day to day stuff as I am with the same teacher and kids, however we are planning to revamp the lessons and I have got a few big challenges coming up with the children I am responsible for which is going to take alot of time and effort.
I have been building up a relationship with a selective mute and now have to make some more progress - hopefully pick up where we left off before the holidays. I also have some children who have moved up to junior school who are going to need alot of nurture as basically they should be in reception
Lots of new teachers to try and win round and understand the individual children's needs.
It will be hard work, but here goes ...... |

We have a new head too so looking forward to some changes.Hopefully he will be more enlightened about TA's professional development.
I am moving up with some of the kids and have a weird timetable across 4 classes plus setting. I haven't been given the proper timetable just a scrap of torn paper which JT seems to have binned while I was away. So perhaps I'll find out today. |

As some of you already know tomorrow is my first day in my new job.
I will be assisting children with PMLD at lunch time,i've never worked with children with special needs before and i'm very very nervous.
But i'm sure the staff will ease me into it as they no i've got no previous experience and they all seemed very friendly when i was interviewed.
please keep your fingers crosssed for me |

hi true and susie
today went well thanks. Was very nervous, couldn't sleep last night and this morning well lets just say i spent most of it in the loo
Got to school and all the nerves went straight away.i was made very welcome by the staff, there was just one i was unsure of but i think it's just her way she just looks very unaproachable
there is 5 of us
1 teacher
2 TA's
2 supervisery assistants
and ther was 7 children 5 of them in wheel chair bound hence the high staff to pupil ratio.
The only thing i found hard was knowing what the children like and dislike because there is no verbal communication.this just proved to me how much we take our speach for granted.I'm sure i'll get to know their ways.
Got my first day in main stream on friday looking forward to that.
DH confirmed that i'll be with reception class so i best get practicing my nursey rymes and story telling
Does anyone here work in reception ? |

Just had two inset days getting rooms prepared and walls backed. I have my own little area just outside the infant classes where I take various groups.
I have my own HA phonic group in yr 1 and LA group in yr 2. So a nice contrast. I have total control over these and plan my own which I like to do.
I have one new job share teacher but we do know her as she covered the extra infant summer class a couple of years ago and she still comes out for meals with us so I'm looking forward to working with her.
I finally got to decorate my own wall [after sorting the room out for two days!] And found a lovely pearlarised roll of paper in the stock cupboard- very slim rolls, so have backed my wall half blue half pink. I am sure some one will come and tell me those rolls are not for backing walls lol but they do look nice.
Have 30 yr 1 children starting tomorrow so I am sure there will be a few tears to dry up.
Haven't got any one to one children to work with - a first for 10 years for me, but am sure I will see my little lad who left yr 6 when he comes to pick up the rest of the family after school. |
