Does anyone use a commercial or 'home made' scheme as a screening tool for children who show signs of being dyslexic?

Since I started working in SEN, several teachers have asked me to book appointments with Learning Support Services for children with bad literacy skills. There is no way we can call them in for every pupil whose reading age is 2 or more years below their chronological age.

At my dyslexia course they were talking about commercial schemes that TAs can use as a preliminary test, which helps to work out what particular problems a child has. I think PHAB was mentioned, but wondered if anyone had first hand knowledge of any schemes and their value.

Yes please dq, and after the hols will be fine. I guess I should ask our Borough team what schemes they might approve of.
Is LADDS easy to administer and proven to pick out those that need a referal?

Great minds think alike. Just trying to remember how to spell her surname, then I could e-mail today.
