my yr 3 class will be doing this after easter. Learn about alarms, build one and build a house to test it.
This is all I know at present!! I was more curious as to what they will build their houses out of....so can put my thinking cap on for ideas to share with the children.

You can normally read up bits on the topics on the standards site. But, what i seem to be finding is that this is normally is a year 4 project, but i will tell you more about it when we go back.

Nope, but suspect you'll be making simple pressure switches (and poss other sorts too) to complete a circuit to light a bulb or sound a buzzer.

Mount them in a model house (or at least a partial model).

I'm have been in y3 for three years, and have never done an alarm. But do do the circuit to make a bulb light up. This is an investigation process ie how many wires/connecters/batteries etc

Yep we have done that, also added a buzzer so I suppose it may be the same thing. The children always love this.

I shall look forward to doing it then. Did the children build houses too trueblue?
The teacher herself has never done this project yet, so it's why i know so little!! She just quickly read the next project to me.

No they didn't, but year 2 once made circuits and then made them into lighthouses. That was fun
