We r avin a science week next week and the school challenge will be to keep a giant ice cube frozen for the longest time. Any ideas |

leave it in the freezer

the ice cube will be the size an shape of a balloon. don't think dry ice is an option |

Build a metal box (yes I know, good conductor... but wait 2 secs)... insert ice cube, surround with water. Seal box. Attach two or three low voltage TECs (cold side to the box)... should work a treat
In case you're wondering about a TEC... one for a computer here...

Build yourself some sort of phase change (condensation / evaporation) cooler along the lines of a domestic fridge. _________________ A clever person solves a problem.

I've just remembered that when i did this in a year 4 class. i think silver foil kept the ice cube pretty solid. it kept the cold air in and the hot air out. _________________ Lucybelle |
